Window Shopping Whilst Driving?

Yes, I recommend learner drivers to look at shop windows whilst driving! That may sound like crazy advice from a driving instructor, so let me explain what I mean. I am not suggesting that you look at the latest fashion items displayed in the shops. However, the large, usually gleaming(and hopefully not broken like this one!) display windows themselves can be very useful aids to vision whilst driving. For example at a junction, where your vision is often obscured by illegally parked cars near or even right on the corner. Sometimes you can get the first warnings of approaching traffic by checking out the reflections in shop windows. Of course, you can`t rely totally on the reflection to decide if it is safe to pull out, but it can be a very useful technique.Try it out and see for yourself…but don`t get distracted by the sales!
